Houses for sale in Gloucestershire may share in Eyford's glory

The award of England's Favourite House to a property in Gloucestershire could increase demand for houses for sale in the area.

Eyford, in Upper Slaughyer, has taken the Country Life magazine prize, which is bound to reflect positively upon other houses for sale in Gloucestershire.

The Cotswolds home, alleged to have been the house that inspired John Milton to write Paradise Lost, was chosen by judging panel member Julian Fellowes because it is "the quintessential country house".

Mark Hedges, editor of the magazine, explained the judges' decision making process: "Everywhere, they saw houses of the highest quality and charm but, in the end, it came down to the house that they most wanted to live in and that house is Eyford."

Surrounded by beautiful parkland, the property reflects 17th century design and Baroque details.

Houses for sale in Gloucester, another town in the county, are an ideal choice for homebuyers with an interest in history.

The Victorian dockside – the most inland port in Britain - and a "wealth" of historic buildings make property for sale in Gloucester attractive to history fans, according to Marketing Gloucester.ADNFCR-1222-ID-800490250-ADNFCR
