Houses for sale in Dorset: community leads local development plans

People looking to buy houses for sale in Dorset could benefit from planning decisions made by local residents.

West Dorset will work with Cerne Abbas Parish to develop neighbourhood projects and give local people "a real voice" in deciding which types of development are best suited to their communities.

Their new powers are a trial of rights to be introduced under the proposed Localism Bill, which aims to give local residents greater power over planning in their areas, including determining the locations of shops, offices and schools and designs for new housing.

Estate agents could experience greater demand for property for sale in Dorset as homebuyers seek to have more say in the development of their communities.

Decentralisation minister Greg Clark says the initiative hopes to help local people feel more involved in the planning process.

He said: "By giving local people a greater say ... our reforms will help to create the conditions where communities begin to welcome development rather than resist it at all costs."ADNFCR-1222-ID-800491940-ADNFCR
