Houses for sale by the coast 'attract higher prices'

Houses for sale by the coast have been highlighted as a good investment as they have been said to attract higher offers than inland properties.

This is the opinion of Peter Halliday, managing director at Waterside Properties, who said homebuyers are often willing to pay more for coastal homes as they are "a nice place to live".

He stated that in the last two years, they have not fluctuated in price as much as other markets and they are "holding their own" with regards to value.

Mr Halliday's comments were made in response to the Halifax Seaside Quality of Life report released on Monday (August 16th 2010).

It revealed that the Yorkshire areas of Bridlington, Withernnsea and Hornsea and Scotland's Peterhead and Fraserburgh were found to be the coastal towns in the UK which offer the best combination of property value and quality of life.

Yorkshire's coastline could also be a popular location for potential homeowners after the Land Registry reported last month that houses for sale in the north-east had increased by just 0.7 per cent over the last year.

Comparatively, the value of properties in London rose by 12.12 per cent during the same period.ADNFCR-1222-ID-800030354-ADNFCR
