House prices stay flat in December

House prices in the UK sat pretty flat in December, as the average throughout the UK was completely unchanged from November.

The latest figures released by the Land Registry have said that the average house now costs £160,384.

The best performing area was the north-west, with those having property for sale in Bury seeing some of the best increases, as prices rose by 1.5 per cent.

However, the only region throughout the UK to see a price increase year-on-year, however, was London, where December prices were 2.8 per cent higher than in the same month in 2010.

Overall, UK property prices in December 2011 showed a decrease of 1.3 per cent when compared to a year earlier.

It could be all change for the property market in 2012, however, as it was reported last week by Santander that 53 per cent of the public are now more confident about the property market than they were in 2011.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801279767-ADNFCR
