Homebuyers advised to purchase houses for sale in 2011

Potential homebuyers have been encouraged to begin their search for houses for sale, as they could take advantage of lower property prices.

According to an article on MSN Money, now could be a good time to purchase homes as many experts predict that costs will decline in the coming months.

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors recently suggested that prices could slip initially.

However, it noted that as supply begins to fall, prices could stabilise.

Rightmove's December House Price Index also predicted that the national average house value could drop by five per cent over 2011.

The article added that those who do decide to purchase properties this year will be able to do so as a "ruthless customer", as they will have the "whip hand".

This comes after the Land Registry's House Price Index showed that the average cost of a home rose by 2.2 per cent from November 2009 to November 2010.
