Henley-on-Thames offers more than rowing

Henley-on-Thames is most famous for its annual Royal Regatta but it has a lot more to offer.

Set on the banks of the River Thames, the town is picturesque and boosts a number of historic buildings.

The main high street has a number of buildings with Georgian frontages – in total there are 300 buildings in the town that have been designated of special architectural or historical interest, St Mary’s church, the town hall, market place and Henley Bridge.

In recent years, the Henley Festival of Music and Arts has developed in to a very popular event, attracting some top class performers to the Henley Bridge venue.

The town also has a railway station that offers regular services to key destinations. Located on a branch line from Twyford, there are direct trains to London Paddington during peak hours, as well as services to Reading.

Residents and visitors also have plenty of opportunities to enjoy the beautiful Chiltern landscape with walks along the River Thames Path or enjoy a jaunt up the Chiltern Hills.

Of course, anyone interested in rowing will be attracted to the town's River and Rowing Museum. Open seven days a week, the museum was setup in 1998 to celebrate the river, the international sport of Rowing and the town of Henley on Thames.
