Head to Blandford Forum

The quaint market town of Blandford Forum is a popular retirement destination, offering tranquillity and a strong sense of community.

Located in central Dorset, the town has a population of around 8,000 people, meaning property for sale in Blandford Forum could be just the ticket for those that want to relax and enjoy themselves.

The town's entire centre was rebuilt following a large fire in 1731. This allowed for a comprehensive town plan, meaning that many of the fine Georgian buildings complement each other architecturally, offering a range of attractive public spaces and views.

Socialising and meeting new people is easy.  Blandford Bowls Club meets regularly at its six rinks green at the recreation ground on Milldown Road.  The club plays in several men's and women's leagues.  The local cricket club at the top of Whitecliff Mill Street has three men's teams and several youth teams.  There is also Blandford Rugby Football Club.

The two social highlights of the year are the Blandford Georgian Fayre, a day festival held in May celebrating the town's Georgian heritage, and the Carnical in September.

For shopaholics, the town’s market place is full of independent shops that sell all variety of different items. There are outdoor markets twice a week and an indoor market once a week.  Blandford Forum benefits from both a Morrisons and a Tesco, allowing for locals to get all their essentials from the town itself. ADNFCR-1222-ID-801826186-ADNFCR
