Hassocks offers relaxed alternative

The town of Hassocks could offer an alternative to those looking to move away from the city.

Located in Mid Sussex, Hassocks is close to the popular seaside resort of Brighton, but definitely offers a calmer atmosphere, which could appeal to those retiring.

There is plenty of property for sale in Hassocks to suit the majority of budgets and there are numerous local attractions that will appeal to those hoping to move in to the area.

As well as the usual high street shops, Hassocks also has a variety of smaller independent shops and cafes that add to the strong local community feel of the town.

Hassocks is a popular destination for those who enjoy walking and there is even a Site of Special Scientific Interest within the parish itself. Clayton to Offham Escarpment is a rare chalk grassland that has been officially recognised as being of strong importance.

There are also a number of important buildings close to Hassocks, including two windmills that have played a key role in the region’s history.

Known as the Clayton Windmills, the two structures are called Jack and Jill by locals. Jack is a tower mill built in 1866, while Jill is a post mill built in 1821. Neither are still working, but they are open to the public after an extensive restoration project.

Keen cyclists will also enjoy the various trails close to Hassocks and the Downs - perfect for those who enjoy getting out and about.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801836137-ADNFCR
