Gravesend offers value for money

Property for sale in Gravesend could offer a value for money alternative to central London living.

The town is a relatively straightforward commute for those who have to work in the city on a regular basis.

High speed rail travel has helped shorten journey times, and there are trains every 12 minutes from Gravesend railway station to Stratford International, with a journey time of just 24 minutes.

This means people may be able to gain a bit more space in their home without having to pay the London premium property prices.

One of the advantages of living outside of London is the easy access to outdoor spaces. To the east and south of Gravesend lie the North Downs, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and perfect for fans of the countryside.

Also nearby is Shorne Woods Country Park - this is one of Kent’s most popular parks and has 288 acres of woodland to explore.

One of the more unusual attractions of Gravesend can be found in the Woodlands Park – a Cold War bunker.

The facility was built in 1954 and was designated as the hideout for Gravesend's rescue and emergency management services in the event of a nuclear attack. It also houses a WE177 air dropped nuclear bomb - that would have been one of the defences against a Soviet Union attack. Weighting around 900lbs and measuring 133 inches, it remains an impressive piece of history.

Guided tours take place throughout the year and private group visits can be arranged through the local visitor information centre.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801762740-ADNFCR
