'Good prospects' on Birmingham market

Birmingham is a "thriving" city and could give investors some fantastic opportunties, according to Robert Powell & Co.

This is due to the construction of a number of new developments and the creation of a cultural backbone to the city, a spokeswoman at the firm noted.

While it is being impacted upon slight due to the "downturn" that is taking place countrywide, prices are "holding their own", she said.

Changes have taken place, she added, meaning Birmingham is a popular and "trendy" place to live for younger folk.

However, the market is not a great one for city centre flats at present due to overbuilding, she revealed, but this could change if offices are popular, something that could lead to demand for housing from young professionals.

She commented: "It's a great place but there are too many flats. They are building new offices - if they fill those the flat market may improve."

In the 2006-07 time period, 3,134 converted and brand new homes were finished in the city, Birmingham council has said.ADNFCR-1222-ID-18521275-ADNFCR
