Good deals to be had on properties, expert says

There are still deals to be had in the UK's housing market, it has been claimed.

According to Paul Collins, property editor at BuyAssociation.co.uk, new-build constructions are particularly good value.

This means that property for sale in Essex and other areas of the UK may be a bargain.

However, the expert went on to state that finance remains a concern for some potential homeowners.

He suggested that some consumers may require substantial deposits in order to get on to the "ladder".

Mr Collins added: "Many may hang on until the back end of the year - not just for saving for a deposit, but also to see what mortgages do towards the end of the year."

According to the latest Halifax House Price Index, the average value of homes in the UK last month was £166,857, which was up eight per cent on a low reached in April last year.
