Good broadband is a big factor in home purchasing

A good broadband connection is one of the most important aspects of a potential home for many buyers, a new survey from Halifax has revealed.

Of those questioned by the building society, as many as 30 per cent said that a fast connection was a very important factor in any house they view through an estate agents.

Some 20 per cent added that they would be prepared to offer more when going for a home than they would if the property had a slow internet connection.

Earlier this week, Banner Homes had said that having a good sized dining room and an en suite bathroom were two of the biggest factors in making a decision, but it seems many Brits are far-more technologically minded.

Martin Ellis, housing economist at Halifax, said: "A strong broadband connection is an increasingly important factor when choosing where to live. We are living in the digital age and as such more people are choosing to work from home, but as well as this it's a part of our everyday lives with web browsing and streaming television commonplace."ADNFCR-1222-ID-801537410-ADNFCR
