Forest Gate offers great access to London

With property prices in central London putting homes in the capital out of reach of many, areas such as Forest Gate offer a real value alternative for commuters.

Just seven miles from Charing Cross, property for sale in Forest Gate could appeal to those who wish to be close to the City but want a more spacious home.

Forest Gate Railway Station has a great link to Liverpool Street Station via Stratford and is perfect for workers, as well as those wanting to enjoy the world-class theatre district of the West End or the wide choice of restaurants, bars and clubs on offer in the capital.

One of the future improvements to the area will be the construction of a CrossRail station. The link is expected to be completed by 2018 and is a 73-mile railway that will join the capital with a number of key suburbs surrounding London. It is currently the biggest construction project in Europe and could lead to a growth in property values along its route.

Forest Green also has its own mix of shops and bars, many located in the suburb's original Victorian buildings.

There are also plenty of green areas, including the Wanstead Flats, where people can enjoy picnics and walks in an almost rural setting.

Forest Gate is just 1.5 miles away from the 2012 Olympic Park and future plans for the area include a park plus a museum to celebrate the games. Such close proximity to the Olympic venue has helped to boost regeneration in the suburb and has had a positive impact on the local infrastructure.

It is also close to the Westfield Stratford City shopping mall, which is home to many key brands and retailers.

Families with school age children may also be interested in visiting Forest Gate Community School. Attended by more than 1,000 students, the facility was one of the first in the UK to be awarded Cooperative Business and Enterprise specialist status.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801699046-ADNFCR
