First-time buyers could buy houses for sale in Yorkshire for less than half the price of London counterparts, it has been revealed.

Research by Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks has revealed that the region is one of the cheapest options for those trying to get onto the property ladder, with the average first-time buyer property costing £112,396.

In comparison, first-time buyer houses for sale in London average at £260,261.

Steve Reid, retail director for Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks, said: "House prices vary significantly throughout the UK and these figures indicate that in some areas there is more than £16,000 difference in the cost of a first home compared to prices in 2007."

First-time buyer properties for sale in Yorkshire have reduced in price considerably, with an average price of £121,365 in November 2007.

Houses for sale in Yorkshire may become more popular as the summer month approaches, due to its numerous coastal resorts.
