February boosts number of houses for sale in UK

February saw a jump in the number of houses for sale across the UK, it has been revealed.

There was a 25 per cent year-on-year rise in housing stock availability, the National Association of Estate Agent's (NAEA) market report shows.

In addition, estate agents reported increased buyer enquiries, with the number of buyers registering totalling 268 – the highest level in seven months.

According to an NAEA regional official, more houses for sale in Essex were snapped up compared to January figures, and property to rent in Essex continues to see high demand.

Overall, sales increased across the UK last month to an average of eight per branch month-on-month.

NAEA president Michael Jones said: "To see such a significant boost in activity amongst sellers compared with this time last year is encouraging news for the UK property market."

People planning to buy flats or houses for sale in Essex will benefit from the wide range of historical sites in the county.
