Enterprise zone provides boost to Oxfordshire housing

Those searching for a house for sale in Oxfordshire will be buoyed by the news that the county looks set to welcome more than 8,000 jobs, £19 million as well as transport and housing improvements.

The predictions come after the government named southern Oxfordshire as one of the UK's ten new enterprise zones.

The Oxfordshire zone, named Science Vale UK, features two of the UK’s biggest science and research business parks, namely Harwell Oxford and Milton Park.

New businesses who will be encouraged to set up there will enjoy access to more than £1 billion of business rate discounts over five years, simplified planning procedures as well as access to superfast broadband.

Wantage MP Ed Vaizey told the Oxford Mail: "I think we will see this area become one of the most dynamic economic areas in the country. The additional business rates will be reinvested in the Oxfordshire economy, so it’s good news for the whole of Oxfordshire."

The first 11 zones were named in the spring and included Manchester, Birmingham and Newcastle.
