Enjoy the delights of Wells

Wells is famed for being the smallest city in England, but good things come in small packages.

With historical records dating back to Roman times, this ancient city offers over 1,300 years of history.  Named after the 3 ancient springs that rise to the surface there, Wells now has a population of just under 11,000, giving a true community feel.

The most famous building in the city is its cathedral, which claims to have one of the finest collections of mediaeval statues in Europe, with nearly 300 of them located on its west front.   Cinema lovers may find some streets look familiar, with the city being used as the backdrop for Hot Fuzz in 2006.

The area also boasts beautiful natural features, with the world-famous Cheddar Gorge and Wookie Hole caves being nearby.  The city is surrounded by the Somerset Levels and Mendip Hills, providing a host of opportunities for walking and cycling, as well as more unusual hobbies like caving and abseiling.

If you are thinking of hunting for property for sale in Wells, you will be pleased to know that the town boasts a range of supermarkets, including Waitrose, Tescos, Morrisons and Lidl, making the weekly shop a breeze. Education is good, with Wells offering an array of excellent primary and secondary schools. ADNFCR-1222-ID-801826182-ADNFCR
