Enjoy the Glastonbury spirit all year round

Enjoy the Glastonbury spirit all year round

Nestled in the heart of the beautiful Somerset countryside, Glastonbury offers so much more than the weekend of live music that it has become famous for.

Those looking for a house for sale in Glastonbury should keep in mind that the town is part of the renowned Somerset levels and offers beautiful country walks with amazing views. The town has stayed true to its hippie-style roots and pagan traditions, hosting numerous folk events and though the year.

Other attractions the town boasts includes the Glastonbury Tor and its incredible views across the Somerset landscape, the Glastonbury Lake Village Museum as well as nearby Cheddar Gorge.

There is also the Glastonbury Abbey which offers a peaceful environment with seasonal flowers and romantic ruins as well as something for the kids during non-school time.

That's not to say the town is cut off from big towns and cities. Taunton and Bristol are just a short drive either way down the M5, both offering lively nightlife, a plethora of shopping centres as well as picturesque city-centre parks and greenery.

As well as the M5 there is a nearby train station, Castle Cary, which is situated on the main line in between London and Plymouth. You can also catch regular buses from the town to places such as Yeovil, Bristol and Taunton.

Now could be the time for first-time buyers too, as Somerset house prices are currently reasonably low. The average price in June 2011 was down 2.7 per cent on the same time the year before, meaning the market may favour buyers rather than sellers.

Glastonbury can offer both the calm and serenity that the countryside provides while not being completely isolated from the city. Whatever your lifestyle, consider Glastonbury and you could soon realise it's so much more than just a festival.
