East Devon council places emphasis on new homes

House hunters looking for property for sale in Exeter will be buoyed by the news that East Devon District Council’s Local Development Framework Panel recently prioritised the building of new homes in the region.

In a meeting on the 30th August, the panel heard from speakers on a range of topics including potential sites for additional affordable homes. They also heard recommendations for a new public park as well as how to create new jobs for the area.

Panel chairman councillor Mike Allen said: “People can rest assured that the Panel will take a holistic approach to meeting the housing and employment challenges we face. Members will ensure that any sites allocated should benefit the whole District."

Some of the stipulations that the panel will have to consider include improving the number and variety of job opportunities elsewhere in the District and the provision of business support, innovation ideas, networking opportunities and training for small and medium sized businesses

The meeting is one of a series of planned meetings aimed at looking at a planning blueprint for East Devon in the long term up to 2026.
