Ditchling - rural life at its best

Village life offers something different to the loud streets and busy roads of towns and cities. For those wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle, the stronger community links and peace and quiet can be a real draw.

One potential choice for downshifters is Ditchling. The village lies just to the east of the border between East and West Sussex. With just over 2,000 residents, it is a serene slice of rural life. There is a range of property for sale in Ditchling, making it ideal for those of all ages.

For people with young families, the local St Margaret’s Church of England Primary school achieved a ‘good’ rating in its last Ofsted inspection. Dowlands secondary school in nearby Hassocks achieved the same rating.

Trendy Brighton is only a 20 minute drive to the south along the A23 and offers all the amenities you could wish for, with pubs, clubs, bars and restaurants, as well as the famous beach and pier.

The pretty centre of Ditchling itself, offers two pubs, a post office, village hall and a pharmacy. There is also the renowned Museum of Art+Craft, which highlights the work of a group of artists and craftspeople who lived on the village at the start of the 20th century. The museum is an important part of village life, hosting regular talks, events and workshops.

The closest rail station is Hassocks, where there are regular direct services to London Victoria (just 45 minutes away) and Gatwick, with a journey time of around 20 minutes.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801824473-ADNFCR
