Disraeli Court gears up for rebuild after insurance payout

Disraeli Court gears up for rebuild after insurance payout

In news which will please those looking for property to rent in Herefordshire, a property complex in the county looks set to finally get underway after being dogged with subsidence problems.

Disraeli Court faced demolition in 2005 despite only being open for 17 years after the building was found to be sinking. However, Herefordshire Housing (HH) has reached a £200,000 settlement with insurers so that the development can once again get underway.

Paula Kennedy, director of customer services at HH, said: "This has been a frustrating process but it’s good to see a resolution now. We are currently considering a number of options for the future use of the building, with a preference to retain and rent the properties."

HH originally bought Disraeli Court from Herefordshire Council as part of the council’s housing stock transfer in 2002. A condition assessment commissioned by the council prior to the purchase did not identify any existing problems.
