Discover the joys of Ambleside

The town of Ambleside can be found in the north west of England in Cumbria and is one of the most popular places in the Lake District National Park.

Ambleside dates back to Roman Times and has developed into a key tourist destination over the years.

In 1650, the town was granted a charter to hold a market and it still does have a bustling retail industry, including a very popular fish and chip shop and a craft shop.

There are plenty of attractions for anyone looking for property for sale in Ambleside. Despite its small size, the village actually has ten pubs and bars all within a quarter-mile radius - that are very popular with tourists and students linked to the University of Cumbria.

Ambleside is also well located and is only six hours drive from London, while both Manchester and Liverpool are around an hour away by rail. It is also a 20 minute trip from the M6 and is linked with the rest of the country via a number of National Express services.

Therefore, it could appeal to property purchasers who are looking for an ideal weekend retreat or holiday home, which provides a break from the busier cities of the UK.

Of course, the main appeal of the Lake District is the outdoors and Ambleside is well-placed for those who enjoy long walks and stunning scenery.  The National Park is home to Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England, as well as more than 15 lakes.

Mountain biking is also a very popular local pursuit and there are plenty of official and unofficial tracks and trails for those who want to enjoy some exercise on two wheels.

However, Ambleside also has a number of indoor pursuits to offer visitors and residents. There is a good selection of museums and galleries in the nearby area that cover a whole host of subject matter, ranging from local history to geology.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801751463-ADNFCR
