Discover Yorkshire's coast

The coastal town of Hedon is one of Yorkshire's hidden gems.

Just 7,000 people live in the town and its small population means it is the ideal place to raise a family.

Property for sale in Hedon also appeals to those who commute to the larger cities in the area. Hedon is five miles from Hull so makes the journey to work straightforward.

The other benefit of being so close to a major city means that there are a range of shops, restaurants and a variety of entertainment facilities.

Hull is also home to a number of rugby and football clubs, so perfect for the sports fan.

For those who enjoy the great outdoors, the North Yorkshire Moors national park is an hour's drive away and offers a great chance to take some exercise.

Bridlington and Scarborough are also great destination for day trips with the children, especially during the long summer holiday.

However, Hedon also has a number of things to offer residents who do not want to make the journey on a regular basis.

It has a number of small and traditional shops and eateries - many of the latter are famous for their seafood offerings.

There are two traditional pubs in the town - the Station and the Haven Arms.

Hedon dates back to Norman times and has a variety of historic buildings, including Painter's Cottages in Souttergate, which is believed to date back as far as 1562.

One of the major events for local residents is the Hedon Bloom celebration. Held every year, it encourages anyone with a love of gardening to make use of their green fingers to compete for prices.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801741963-ADNFCR
