Discover Hampshire's Hamble

Discover Hampshire's Hamble

The town of Hamble may be the idyllic setting to raise a family or enjoy retirement.

With a variety of property for sale in Hamble,  the town has a small population of around 4,000, which gives it a real small village feel - so people are able to quickly become one of the community and make real friends.

It also makes it perfect for those with young children as there is less traffic than in busy inner-city areas and makes the school run a little less stressful.

There are two schools in the town, a primary and a secondary, and they serve the immediate area, as well as some of the smaller hamlets in the region. For education, there are bus services to the larger institutions that will give older children a sense of independence.

One of the other major attractions of Hamble is that it offers great sailing. It is located at the tip of the Hamble Peninsula, and is close to Netley, Butlocks Heath, Bursledon, Southampton Water and the River Hamble.

It attracts a whole host of sailors - ranging from the beginner to the professional. So it could be an ideal pursuit for someone to learn as they approach retirement and there are plenty of yachting and boating clubs, with regular regattas and social events.

The town and its river are one of the many locations that made up the fictional village of Tarrant in the 1980s classic BBC television series Howards Way.

For those interested in other sports, there is the Pavilion, which provides an all weather sports facility which is perfect for weekend exercise and sporting fun.

There are also a number of regular activities in the village including brownies and sea cadets.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801717000-ADNFCR
