Devon's Bovey Tracey offers peace

The small town of Bovey Tracey in Devon could be the ideal destination for anyone looking to move away from the busier UK cities.

Located on the edge of the National Park Dartmoor, the town is close to the A382 and can be found between Newton Abbot and Moretonhampstead.

Families with children looking for property for sale in Bovey Tracey, will want to look around the town's primary school, while there are also the secondary schools of Teign School, Coombeshead College and Newton Abbot College all within five miles of Bovey Tracey.

One of the regular highlights for the town is the Bovey Tracey Produce Market, which is held in Union square from 8.30am to 1pm every other Saturday.

There are a wide range of sellers that attend the market, with shoppers being able to choose from a whole host of local produce such as cheese, meat, fish, cakes, cheeses and pies.

Another highlight is the annual Bovey Tracey Carnival. Featuring a fun fair, the summer event also attracts local bands, has a licensed bar and a hog roast - all are very popular with local residents and visitors to the region.

People who enjoy physical activity should also consider taking part in the annual Dartmoor Devil bicycle ride which starts at Bovey Tracey. This Audax UK Brevet Populaire event is held in late October and crosses Dartmoor, ending in the nearby village of Manaton.

For those more interested in history, then Bovey Tracey has plenty to offer and there a number of local artefacts in display in the Bovey Tracey Heritage Centre, which is situated in the Old Bovey Station building.

The station was restored in 2003 and opened to the public in April 2004. It is home to lots of interesting objects, including the remains of a salt glaze pottery kiln, which dates from about 1760 but was only discovered in 1932.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801724404-ADNFCR
