Cost of property to rent in south west and West Midlands falls

Tenants looking for cheap property to rent in Gloucestershire or houses to rent in Birmingham could find monthly charges to be lower than expected.

According to LSL Property Services, property in the south-east of England and the West Midlands saw rental costs fall in March.

Overall the south-west experienced a drop of 1.6 per cent, while the cost of houses and flats to rent in the West Midlands decreased by 1.3 per cent.

Yorkshire and the Humber also saw a small monthly decrease, which could mean houses to rent in Bridlington are now more affordable.

Overall, rents across England and Wales rose by 0.4 per cent in March to an average charge of £687 per month.

David Newnes, of LSL Property Services, reports that other regions also saw prices soar, including London and the south-east of England.

He said: "At their current pace, London rents are likely to hit £1,050 in a year's time.

"Landlords are seeing demand for their properties go from strength to strength."

The Birmingham Mail recently reported that St Cecilia Close, near Kidderminster in the West Midlands, is one of the cheapest streets in the UK for rental homes.ADNFCR-1222-ID-800502579-ADNFCR
