Cost of houses to rent in Birmingham set to rise?

Buy-to-let investors offering property to rent in Birmingham may see their rental yields increase in the coming months.

Expectations for rental prices remain high in the Midlands, according to the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Rics).

Houses to rent in London may see the highest rent rises, the latest residential lettings survey found, while monthly costs for rental homes in the south-east are also predicted to increase.

Overall, high tenant demand and low levels of new rental properties resulted in rents increasing further in the three months to April.

Across the quarter, 42 per cent more surveyors claimed rents rose rather than fell, which is good news for landlords.

In addition, 33 per cent more surveyors said they expected rents to rise rather than fall in the coming months.

Rics spokesman James Scott-Lee said mortgage restrictions have resulted in "increased demand in an already oversubscribed rental market".
