Consider Cornwall for your retirement

Consider Cornwall for your retirement

If you're thinking about a change of scene for when you hang up your boots for the final time, have you considered Cornwall?

You may be reluctant to try the westernmost part of Great Britain as it's quite far removed, but it could provide the tranquil lifestyle that you have been dreaming of, particularly if you've been working in a busy city for many years.

Tranquil doesn't mean boring, however, and if you're worried you won't have enough to fill your time with once you're officially retired, you're very much mistaken. If you're looking for property for sale in Cornwall, once you make the move you'll find you have a substantial list of things to see, do and explore.

Known as a hotbed of culture, Cornwall boasts many different attractions for you to check out, such as festivals and theatres.

One to note in particular is the open-air Minack Theatre, which is carved from the cliffs and provides stunning views while you watch actors capture your attention through the dramatisation of a story.

If you're an arty or creative type, you may find this county is a place to soak up inspiration and put pen to paper or brush to canvas.

The late poet laureate Sir John Betjeman was known as being fond of Cornwall and, as a result, it featured prominently in his writings. A couple of chapters from the final installment of JK Rowling's Harry Potter series are based there too, so if you're looking to gain some momentum with your creative pursuits, a move to the West Country could be a wise move.

Cornish cuisine is also something to look out for. Cornish pasties - or oggies, as you'll no doubt soon be calling them - could become your staple, while you'll be able to argue to the point of death whether Cornish clotted cream goes before or after jam on scones.

With one of the higher rates of sunshine in the UK, Cornwall could be the ideal place for you to enjoy your hard-earned years of retirement. ADNFCR-1222-ID-801711311-ADNFCR
