Commute from the cheese capital of Wales

Commute from the cheese capital of Wales

The town of Caerphilly in South Wales may be most well known for its famous export, the world famous cheese, but for those looking for the relatively small town living of the Welsh valleys with the freedom to work in the city, it can provide a very welcoming location.

Caerphilly itself is located in the county of Glamorgan, and is separated from the outer settlements of Cardiff by the Caerphilly mountain.

The transport links from Caerphilly are immediately easy to see, due to its proximity to Cardiff and Newport. The town is situated just seven-and-a-half miles from Cardiff and 12 miles from Newport, making it a very attractive commuter town.

Two train stations are also situated in the town, Caerphilly Train Station and Aber, in the west of the town. Bothof these stations provide a very useful and regular service to Cardiff, perfect for commuters looking for property for sale in Caerphilly who want to work in the bigger city. Network Rail has also proposed a third station for the town, to serve newer residential areas.

Caerphilly also has a rich history and culture for people who enjoy sightseeing and quirky rural style living.

History buffs may enjoy Caerphilly Castle, which was erected between the years of 1268 and 1271. It is the largest castle in Wales, and is also the second largest in the whole of the UK, with only Windsor Castle being larger than it.

The town also hosts, unsurprisingly due to its most famous export, a yearly cheese festival, called The Big Cheese. The event is held in July, and attracts a high number of visitors to the town every year. In 2012, the local council expects to see 80,000 people descend on the town for the festival, featuring street entertainers, living history exhibits, folk events, and other attractions which can be enjoyed by the whole family.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801226158-ADNFCR
