Code altered by HBF

Homebuyers could see the benefits after the Home Builders Federation (HBF) announced changes to its Code of Conduct.

Such amendments should mean that any discounts in the buying process are made clearer to both service providers and consumers, the organisation argued.

And executive chairman Stewart Baseley said the alterations were devised following input from members of the HBF and other lending experts.

"It is vital that the industry does all it can to help potential home buyers secure support from lenders to assist as many customers as possible to realise their wish to purchase a newly-built home," he commented.

Concerns had been raised by the police that prices of such new dwellings could have been clouded because they are being sold off plan before completion, Building.co.uk had said.

According to the HBF, its members carry out work on about 80 per cent of the properties undertaken on a yearly basis.ADNFCR-1222-ID-18556406-ADNFCR
