Cheltenham 'needs more new houses for sale'

Property developments that will make more houses for sale in Cheltenham available to buyers and local residents should be embraced, rather than feared, it has been suggested.

In an interview with the Gloucestershire Echo, Bovis Home's South West regional managing director Malcolm Pink highlighted that people tend to be wary of change happening in their local area.

However, he explained that is why housing developers are trying to work more closely with local communities to ensure that new property for sale in Cheltenham and surrounding areas will "represent a real positive for the community".

He suggested that action in Gloucestershire is essential to meet the needs of a growing and ageing UK population, because the county is not building enough new homes to keep pace.

Ministers recently offered up publically owned land to developers in a bid to increase the number of houses being built throughout the UK.

Earlier this week, planning minister Greg Clark announced plans to make it easier for developers to convert commercial buildings, potentially enabling them to create more residential property for sale and rent.ADNFCR-1222-ID-800602764-ADNFCR
