Capital's most expensive flat sells

A flat in London has sold for a record £140 million - making it the capital's most valuable property.

It is thought the penthouse in Knightsbridge has been sold to an overseas buyer and is one of the most popular areas of London.

The Times reports an eastern European person has become the new owner of One Hyde Park, which measures 16,000 square feet and has recently been developed by a key real estate company.

"CPC Group is not able to comment on the sale price or the purchaser," the developer said in a statement.

"One Hyde Park injected new vitality into the London super-prime residential market and helped to re-establish London as a global destination for property investment."

The project was designed by architect Richard Rogers and is a 13-storey residential block. So far all of the penthouses have been sold, while a five-bed smaller apartment is currently on the market for £68 million.

Last month, a disused garage sold in the Camberwell area of the capital for £550,000.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801718882-ADNFCR
