Buyers show good knowledge of Help to Buy scheme

Earlier this year, the government brought in its new Help to Buy scheme, designed to assist more newcomers on getting onto the property ladder, and it appears that it is having a good effect.

A new study has shown that a significant proportion of the target market feel well informed about the scheme, with some 72 per cent of respondents to a Rightmove study saying they feel informed, and 62 per cent adding that they are aware of the details.

"After several years on the ropes, potential buyers seem keen to get moving again and have had their interest awakened by Help to Buy. What our research shows is that regardless of recent politicking, Help to Buy has certainly struck a chord with the very people it’s designed to assist," said Miles Shipside, director of Rightmove.

Compared to NewBuy, the predecessor of the new scheme, Help to Buy has already proved more of a hit. Of those asked if it could help them, 26 per cent said definitely, compared to just 14 per cent at the same stage for NewBuy.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801600742-ADNFCR
