Buyers adding some finishing touches to their property for sale in Norwich before moving in may be keen to show off their new additions, research suggests.

One in ten homeowners admit to hosting a dinner party just to reveal their new DIY projects to friends, according to Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks.

In addition, one in six homeowners invite loved ones over just to admire their home improvements.

Property upgrades cited include garden makeover (15.7 per cent), a new kitchen (14.4 per cent) or a new bathroom (13.5 per cent).

Other additions such as conservatories, swimming pools, steam rooms or hot tubs were also noted by house-proud respondents.

Steve Reid, retail director for the banking group, said adding extra value to the home could prove beneficial when taking the next step on the property ladder.
