Brecon: Family market town in the shade of Cardiff

When looking for somewhere to live with the family, it can often be preferable for people to look towards some of the smaller towns that populate the beautiful British countryside.

It will be hard to find anywhere with more natural beauty than in Wales, and for those who want the chance to bring the kids up in a quiet setting, they could do a lot worse than to head out and look at property for sale in Brecon.

The Powys market town is home to just 7,000 people, which makes it the ideal rural serene retreat in which to raise the family. And with the country's capital, Cardiff, being less than an hour away, it is ideal for those who want to centre their life around the smaller settlement or commute alike.

One of the best things about living in Brecon is the sense of community that the town can throw up. It has numerous events throughout the year that will allow locals to get out and meet other people in their area as well as enjoying some top activities.

The most common of these is the cattle market, which takes place on the west side of the town numerous times every week. This is a highlight of the area, and one that locals gather at in order to meet others from the region and get the chance to purchase products sourced from nearby.

Another moment in the calendar that is always important to the town is the annual Brecon Jazz Festival. Normally held in August, the annual event welcomes a variant of popular musicians from around the globe to the small town to display their skills and is very popular with people from the town itself.

And for parents who want to keep the kids entertained and teach them a little something about history, there is also the chance to visit the Brecknock Museum. This will allow them to learn something about the history of their new home, with artefacts and exhibits dating back to prehistoric periods.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801570740-ADNFCR
