Bodmin: a secluded charming beauty

Few towns offer the same charm and charisma of that the historic town of Bodmin can, perhaps why so many people look for property for sale in Bodmin.

Founded in the sixth century as home to a monastery, Bodmin was originally dubbed Petrockstow. Since then it has grown on to encompass modern shopping areas, including top high-street names, while retaining its unique feel. It now also includes schools and colleges, good transport and charm all set in stunning surrounding Cornwall countryside. 

The town has lots of fascinating areas to discover that keep residents coming back time and time again. The ruins at Bodmin Gaol have been around since the 18th century while other buildings such as Shire Hall and Freemasons Hall both attract onlookers. The Bodmin Beacon nature reserve sits overlooking the town and is home to all manner of wildlife with Bodmin Moor offering similar views as well as good walking routes. 

Residents, or potential residents, of Bodmin with young people in their family will be pleased to hear the town has a number of primary schools as well as Bodmin College for older learners. The town also has strong transport links to the rest of Cornwall and to Devon. Bodmin Parkway rail station is situated on the Cornish main line and connects to other parts of the local region. The town also has a good bus network can connects to a similar number of places. 

Bodmin is one few smaller towns in the region to include a vast array of local media. It has its own edition within the Cornish Guardian as well as being home to NCB Radio and Localfusion.com which both serve the Bodmin and north Cornwall area.
