Basildon: A commuter haven for young families

Basildon: A commuter haven for young families

As we get older, the novelty of a busy city can sometimes to wear off. Professionals looking to start a family as well as maintaining some focus on work may start to seek quieter a environment to spend their quality time. Those looking to move out of London to a nearby area do not have to look too far to find the right place.

For a town that offers both an easy commute and an atmosphere heavily influenced by the capital, you may wish to look at properties for sale in Basildon.

With a population of just over 170,000, the Essex town is much quieter than the capital but still offers a healthy amount pubs, restaurants and high street shops to keep you occupied on the weekends.

Due to its excellent location, Basildon possesses great travel links for commuters using either road or rail. Situated just 25 miles outside of the capital, the drive takes less than an hour. Trains to London Fenchurch Street station take just 35 minutes on the London, Tilbury & Southend line.

In the other direction, a day out on the beach isn’t far away. Using the same train line, travel to the popular seaside resort Southend-on-Sea only takes 20 minutes. With attractions like Adventure Island and the Sea-Life Adventure aquarium, the area provides lots for families to do in the summer holidays.

A great reason for families to make the move to Basildon is the education system. One of the standout establishments is the Billericay School, which received an ‘outstanding’ grading in its most recent OFSTED review.

Another top school in the area is Woodford School which boasts a higher than average A* to C pass rate.

An important factor for young families can be places to entertain the children - that is why Gloucester Park in Basildon could be an important feature to consider. The Urban park contains tennis courts, football pitches, a swimming pool, a children’s play area and a bowling green, among other things.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801645637-ADNFCR
