Average UK house price up, says index

UK property prices have shown an annual increase of 3.2 per cent over November, the latest Land Registry House Price Index has revealed.

As a result of this the average house price for a home in England and Wales now stands at £165,411, with values in London leading the way with a 10.6 per cent increase recorded over the last 12 months.

The capital also showed the best monthly rise with an increase of 1.8 per cent, which will come as welcome news for estate agents in London.

Properties in the North East recorded a slight decrease of 1.6 per cent, however, this was the only region to show an annual price fall.

Figures from the index also showed that the number of property transactions has also increased over the last year, with 70,021 being recorded between June to September - a figure that was at 59,228 for the same period in 2012.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801678068-ADNFCR
