Abbey launches new lowest rate

Abbey has revealed it is launching it's lowest-ever mortgage rate.

New customers will be able to take up a two-year fixed-rate deal at 2.99 per cent from tomorrow, with a loan-to-value (LTV) ratio of up to 60 per cent.

The fee for the product is £599 and the maximum amount available to borrow is £200,000.

Director of Abbey Mortgages Nici Audhlam-Gardiner commented: "This is the lowest mortgage rate we have offered. We want to continue to offer our customers the lowest rates and the best deals we can."

The lender is also introducing a five-year fixed-rate mortgage at 3.95 per cent, with a 60 per cent LTV, a fee of £995 and maximum lending amount of £250,000.

Yesterday Nationwide revealed its own new fixed-rate deals with a 60 per cent LTV ceiling for two, three and five years at rates of 3.88 per cent, 4.18 per cent and 4.98 per cent respectively.
