Discover the historic shopping town of Haslemere

The most southern town in Surrey, Haslemere is a charming location with pretty streets and timbered and tile hung buildings.

Just an hour from London, the town benefits from excellent transport links. The A3 is lies to the west and the railway station is on the Portsmouth Direct Line, giving locals an easy way to reach the capital via Waterloo Station, as well as ferry ports to the south and Gatwick and Heathrow airports.

The area is a popular location for walkers, thanks to its location near the beautiful South Downs. Most of the paths are open to cyclists and equestrians as well, making the location perfect for those who enjoy spending time outdoors.

Of course, those who buy property for sale in Haslemere won't want to spend all of their time enjoying the great outdoors, and the town also has plenty of local amenities.

Haslemere high street is particularly wide, because it was used as a cattle market until the 1920s. The Town Hall stands at the southern end of the street and there are two public houses, as well as independent and specialist shops, restaurants, cafes and banks.

There's also a number of local farm shops, as well as a baker, deli and fishmonger - so you can always be sure to have delicious and fresh food.

Haslemere has a wonderful sense of community and there are plenty of local events held throughout the year. These attract both locals and visitors alike and include the weekly market and the bi-annual Charter Fair, which celebrates the chater to hold the market that was granted by Elizabeth I in 1596

The Haslemere Festival runs every three years, while the annual Food Festival happens every September. Haunted Haslemere is a ghostly weekend for the whole family and a Christmas market is held during the first week of December. It features more than 150 stalls selling a range of goods and Christmas gifts.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801782332-ADNFCR
